Invitation: idw Award for Science Communication
idw transports an average of 20,000 press releases yearly of its member organizations such as universities and other scientific institutions. In order to foster excellence in Communications, idw awards the idw Award for Science Communication to press releases that distinguish themselves by their professional quality, outstanding news value and scientific importance (quality, relevance, originality).
The winner will receive 2,000 € and a badge to be installed publicly which makes the achievement permanently visible. The second will receive 1,000 €, the third 500 €. An expert jury will select the winners. The prize is awarded to a press office, not to an individual. It is to be used for further strengthening of quality in Communications, and will be presented to the winners at idw’s annual meeting of members in March, 2012.
Please select the one press release out of your institution’s press releases published in 2011 via idw, which is most convincing in terms of quality, relevance and originality. If you select an embargoed press release, please make sure the embargo’s end was in 2011.
Please submit an E-Mail (without attachments) with the subject "submission idw award" to service@idw-online.de, including
1. your press release’s headline and the number of your press release within idw. That number is part of the URL following the pattern of
http://idw-online.de/en/news123456
Please include the number (in our example: 123456) only.
It is not sufficient to send the press release’s headline alone or a link to another website (e. g. your institution’s homepage) where your press release might have been published as well.
2. your contact data including name and telephone number. Your e-mail address is not sufficient.
3. a short summary of your press releases’ media echo (please refrain from adding long lists or charts).
